Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall Ontario

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa was erected as the Diocese of Bytown in 1847 and raised to the status of Archdiocese of Ottawa in 1886. The Archdiocese currently serves Catholics in the capital city of Ottawa and surrounding towns within the province of Ontario. The Archdiocese has parishes ministering and evangelizing to the English and French-speaking communities, as well as many other language-based groups of varied ethnicity and culture. The current archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall is the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J. As of December 4, 2020, it will be Archbishop Marcel Damphousse.
