Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Our head office is in Winnipeg, and parts of our team are spread out across Canada working from home and remotely in and around Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, and Halifax.
What is WordPress?
WordPress is a content management system for making websites. It is the software that takes care of all the background code and programming so we can focus on designing great looking websites. Even better, it is open source. That means thousands of people around the world are working on improving it and regularly adding great new features.
Do I own my website and domain name?
Yes! You own all the information in your website and can take a backup copy at any time.
Yes! We register a domain name for you with your name as the official Registrant (owner). You can take over management of your domain name any time. It costs around $20/year for you to do it yourself. That fee is included in our service.
Can I cancel any time?
Sure! We would hate to see you go, so let us know if there is a problem we can fix. Otherwise, just give us at least a day or two notice before your billing date—a little bit more if you want to move your domain name and email to another provider. We’ll make the process of moving as easy as we can. And sorry, we can’t give a refund for the remainder of a month or if you have prepaid for the year. We pay for all of our server space and software in advance, so we need to know before you are billed that you don’t want to continue.
What is a Domain Name?
A domain name is kind of like a phone number for the Internet. A domain name can include letters and numbers followed by an ending like (.com) or (.ca). If you’re wondering, .com stands for commercial and .ca stands for Canada. Each country manages their own 2 letter ending.
What is Managed WordPress Hosting?
Thousands of companies host WordPress websites, at a wide range of service levels. Since it is so popular, WordPress is a target for hackers and spammers. The main issues with hosting WordPress is page load speed, uptime and reliability, security monitoring, and managing software updates and backups.
We have a customized server configuration with caching optimized for WordPress. That means blazing fast speeds and performance that can handle millions of visitors. Security is built in at the server level. We block intruders and suspicious activity. We will fix it for free if anything gets through. We keep the WordPress core software up to date for you, and take care of your theme and plugin updates too. SSL encryption is included to give your visitors peace of mind and a signal to the search engines that your website is secure. We backup every website at the server level every night and store them for 30 days so you don’t have to worry about backup plugins.
If my payment is late, does my website and email get turned off?
The website and email service is suspended if a payment is 30 days late. We make sure you’ve seen your invoice by email, or received a paper copy in the mail, and we’ll send you a reminder by email. Please understand that it is up to you to let us know if your billing email has changed. An account is closed if a payment is 60 days late.
What are Personalized Email Addresses?
A personalized email address is something like dave@companyname.com. We can also set up aliases like info@companyname.com or sales@companyname.com and have them forward to a personalized address automatically.
What is a Blog?
Blog is short for Web Log. It is for publishing information regularly. The articles show up by date with the newest ones first, and they can be categorized and tagged so people can find the information they are looking for easily. Think of it like an archive of information.
How do the Website Statistics work?
We set up Google Analytics for your website and send you a custom report depending on your goals. You receive the report once per month by email. We can track things like the number of visits, where people are visiting from (which website they came from and where they are located), and the number of times a particular page was viewed.
How much does it cost for you to build a website?
In most cases you can get a website made for free! If you need a brand new site that is just a simple landing page, there is no charge to set it up. If you need to switch your current website from a bad provider over to us, that is also free. Click here to see if you qualify to get started for free!

Do You Help With Website Traffic?
Most of our customers have seen improvements to the traffic to their website, but we don’t make any promises. It is always going to depend on your industry, your competitors, and how interesting your offer is. If you need a more aggressive plan that is not included in our standard service, ask us about our Advanced SEO that starts around $500/month.
What design services do you offer?
We make sure you get an attractive and modern website design, that works and looks great on any screen size, and is optimized for the search engines.
You have two options for the web design: 1. Our expert designer decides for you, or 2. You can choose a style from our examples. Our service does not cover custom design requests. This is to keep the fees affordable. It is also so we can make a website that works and looks good for all screens and devices. If you have a design idea that might look interesting on your screen, it could end up hurting the design or page flow for other users.
I Don’t Know What I Need, Can You Help?
Most companies just need a simple website that says what they do, who they do it for, and has clear contact information so the customer can get in touch with them.
After a short conversation, we will recommend a plan for you. Then all you have to do is provide words that describe what your company does, and your business contact info (and a logo, if you have it). We will take care of the rest.
I Have A Vision Of What I Want—Can You Do It?
If you have all the content (words and pictures) ready for your website, just show it to us and we’ll give you a quote. We can’t take any specific design requests though. A boutique, custom designed website is going to cost in the thousands of dollars. This is not the type of service we provide.
When you leave the design up to our experts, you will get a site that works for the almost every internet users and on any of their devices. And it won’t break the bank! But if you feel like you want to be involved in the design process, and need to see several versions before you can make a decision, we won’t be able to help.
How often can I send in my updates?
You can send us your updates once a week. For pictures and wording updates, you can just call or send us your updates by email. You can track the progress of your request through our Ticket system, and simple updates are usually done within a day or two. Up to 3 hours of work per month are included.
How do I update the website myself if I don’t know programming?
WordPress has tons of help articles and videos build right in. It is designed for non-technical people to be able to use intuitively. Also, we offer ‘How to Use WordPress’ training.
How much space do I get for my website?
As a technical limit, you website can have up to 5,000 monthly visits, 5GB of files, and 250GB of bandwidth. To use that limit, you would need to have a website with about 10,000 web resolution images!
What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Paypal or cheque.
